Otro punto de vista, de singular significación para la conveniente valorización de los síntomas, arranca de la estimación del hombre como ente entendido hacia fines y orientado hacia un mundo de valores. Un causalismo puro, que pretenda explicarlo todo por la dinámica subterráneas de fuerzas instintivas, no abarcara mas que una parte de la sintomatología. Tales fines ya no son lo inmediato, lo vinculado a las tendencias y sus necesidades de satisfacción imperiosa. Se trata aquí de ver, en cada caso, cuanto depende lo instintivo, normal, exaltado o pervertido, y cuanto, de este complejo aparato que la experiencia y el entendimiento de un hombre maduro forja, para adelantarlo en el porvenir, nutrirle de ideales o procurarle realidades intangibles que son pan de su espíritu y motivación cierta de sus mas caras inquietudes.
