Psiquiatría 4:15, Septiembre 2011 Los exiguos conocimientos y habilidades que se observan en los profesionales de la salud para enfrentar al tabaquismo como problema de salud pública, reclaman mayor educación y entrenamiento en el grado y posgrado para todas las ramas de la salud. Es imperioso actuar sobre las instituciones de salud y las educativas así como sobre los individuos, para modificar conductas institucionales y de grupo, actitudes y estilos de vida, pero también, ofrecer apoyo de tratamiento a aquellos agentes de salud que evidencian alto nivel de dependencia. Es responsabilidad de todos los actores de salud, de sus asociaciones, instituciones de salud y educativas, de sus autoridades y los gobiernos actuar con celeridad para desarrollar una masa crítica de profesionales de la salud dispuestos y mínimamente capacitados para modificar el presente escenario.
