3Oxitocina: regulación de la ansiedad y el estrésAdriana Sánchez Toranzo, Federica HansenResumenDurante el embarazo y la lactancia se producen significativos cambios neuroendócrinos,psicológicos y conductuales en la respuesta al estrés y ansiedad que garantizanel sano desarrollo de la descendencia y previenen posibles trastornos en el estadode ánimo de la madre.Las adaptaciones neuroendócrinas involucran la activación a nivel encefálico de lossistemas oxitocina y prolactina que actúan atenuando la actividad del eje hipotálamohipófisis-adrenal(HHA), reduciendo el nivel de cortisol, y como consecuencia la respuestasimpática ante los estresores emocionales y físicos. El resultado de estos cambiosse manifiesta en una afectividad calma por parte de la madre durante el embarazoy el desarrollo de conductas maternantes durante la lactancia.En los humanos los antecedentes maternos de cuadros depresivos, la falta de continenciafamiliar y social o la exposición a sucesos vitales estresantes provocan finalmenteuna desregulación en los circuitos de la respuesta al estrés elevando su reactividad.Estos cambios traen aparejado el incremento a futuro de posible padecimientode trastornos del ánimo en la descendencia, como también la probabilidad de unparto prematuro y depresión posparto en la madre.IntroducciónDurante el embarazo y la lactancia seproducen en la madre significativos cambiosneuroendócrinos, psicológicos yconductuales en la respuesta al estrés yansiedad.
