A pesar de las mejorías obtenidas con las múltiples estrategias combinadas en el tratamiento, existe un porcentaje pequeño de pacientes (menor a 1/3) que obtienen baja respuesta a los mismos. Esto genera la necesidad de continuar mejorando los abordajes y seguir actualizándonos con las nuevas técnicas y fármacos en investigación que se van a analizar en este capítulo:
• Estimulación magnética transcraneal.
• Metformina.
• Memantina.
Se van a exponer cuáles son sus mecanismos de acción y cuáles serían sus beneficios en pacientes con fibromialgia.
